The Romanian Organization for the Implementation of the Intelligent Transport Systems - ITS Romania it is an apolitical, patrimonial, non-governmental and not-profit organization, which aim is to encourage, promote, support, co-ordinate, implement and integrate Intelligent Transport Systems in Romania. ITS ROMANIA it is open to co-operate with all organizations involved in any type of transport, including multimodal transports, and also with those who are about to enter this fast-expanding sector. As transport systems become more integrated, there is a strong need for all involved in road, rail, air, and sea transport to collaborate, these organizations being encouraged to become ITS ROMANIA members. Intelligent Transport Systems implementation distinguishing from the traditional investments in transport require the establishment of partnerships between those directly or indirectly involved in different transport modes, in administration, in business, in private and public sector. The development on an Intelligent Transport Systems market depends directly on the existence of such partnership. facilitate the formation of consortia for Romanian and international ITS projects Main activities - support the ITS research, development, production and implementation - raising awareness of the civil society and the partners from the transport field on the advantages of ITS implementation - initiate pilot projects - coordinate the current projects and implementation programs, by outlining the mutual communication components, the sensors and data processors (which represents the ITS infrastructure) resulting in an increased benefits/costs ratio - promote studies regarding costs and benefits and ensure the dissemination of the studies results - organise technical seminars, workshops, conferences and congresses to facilitate the transfer of information regarding the most recent solutions and results - promote guidelines, normatives and standards - present organisation and its members interests via conferences and exhibitions and other internal and international activities - provide for the central and local authorities, transports operators, suppliers of services and products, and civil society clear statements of the effects of Intelligent Transport Systems implementation on safety, efficiency and environmental performance - make the collection and dissemination of ITS related information (building up databases, WEB pages, publications, leaflets) - collaboration with international bodies activating in the ITS field or having ITS related objectives - promotion at national level of ITS norms, standards and regulations - participate in research and standardization activities, at national and international level, for the European harmonization and integration of Romanian services, solutions and standards - organise the training in ITS field. |
